Industrial Strategy Council – Annual Report 2020

The Industrial Strategy Council is an independent non-statutory advisory group tasked with providing impartial and expert evaluation of the government’s progress in delivering the aims of the Industrial Strategy. Its membership is comprised of leading men and women from business, academia and civil society.

This first Annual Report provides the Council’s independent assessment on the progress of the Industrial Strategy. Because industrial policies take time to take effect, it is too early to provide a comprehensive evaluation of its impact on pay and productivity. Nonetheless, this report provides a rigorous assessment of areas where policy progress has been made and areas needing further attention, which can help government when deciding on its next steps in this crucial area of policy.
