The Department for International Trade has launched the Technology Export Academy, a new cohort programme for high performing technology SMEs.

The aim of the Academy is to support UK based SMEs to grow their export markets through a structured programme of support.

The current cohort focuses on Smart Cities subsectors:

  • Smart Infrastructure
  • Smart Transport and Mobility
  • Security (including Cyber Security)
  • Smart Buildings
  • Data Analytics
  • Urban Planning and Project Delivery

The programme will include sessions with leading professional firms who will deliver the Academy in partnership with DIT.

In order to support companies to access opportunities in market, the programme will cover topics such as legal, tax, intellectual property, regulatory issues and compliance.

There will be additional sessions on pitch training and opportunities to meet investors.

The programme will culminate in a trade mission to one or more markets in the Asia Pacific region. The market will be decided upon by expressions of interest from particpating cohort companies and opportunities which DIT have identified.

Application deadline

The application deadline is 14 August 2020 and successful applicants will be notified at the beginning of September.

There will be no fee to take part in the Export Academy but all participating companies are asked to fully commit to the programme.

Eligibility

Companies wishing to take part in the Export Academy must fulfil the below criteria.

They must:

  • be based in the UK
  • have an established product or service
  • be new or in early stages of exporting to the Asia Pacific region
