Matrix was kindly hosted by the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre (AMIC) at the new flagship ‘Factory of the Future’ at Global Point in Newtownabbey for the June plenary which was followed by an impressive site tour by Prof Sam Turner (AMIC, CEO) and Colm Higgins (AMIC, CTO).
With core capabilities in digitalising manufacturing, smart design, sustainable polymers and composites and smart nanotech, AMIC is already attracting interest from globally competitive companies in Northern Ireland and from outside the region.
The Advanced Research + Invention Agency (ARIA) attended the plenary with Aayush Chanda providing an overview of the work of ARIA and R&D funding opportunities available to unlock scientific and technological breakthroughs. ARIA’s challenge led approach to innovation is seeking to address areas including future proofing our climate and weather, and scalable neural interfaces to interface with the brain in new ways to help with neurological disorders.
