The RAE has opened its SME Leaders programme to applications. The deadline for submissions is Tuesday 4 July 2017.

The programme (delivered by the Academy’s Enterprise Hub) will support promising leaders of high growth engineering SMEs. The RAE aims to support development of leadership skills, through four main channels:

  1. Training courses, executive education (through provision of a grant)
  2. Masterclasses and workshops delivered by senior business leaders
  3. Provision of an experienced personal mentor
  4. Hub Membership

The peer group of awardees also forms an additional support network. By improving the skills of these leaders, the Academy aims to support the pursuit of excellence in engineering. Recipients receive a grant of between £10,000 to £15,000 towards the cost of training courses and executive education for themselves.

Awardee companies may also be invited to attend/take part in/speak at other Academy events following the award. If senior management team members are not able to attend other events, other members of staff may attend and use the opportunities for their own personal and professional development.

Membership of the Hub provides access to the support including facilities such as meeting rooms, some assistance with media/PR with the aim of promoting engineering to the public, and a ‘further opportunities’ signposting service.
