We are looking for your thoughts on how the Creative Technologies – Film, TV, animation, UX, games and immersive technologies such as AR & VR – could best be supported in Northern Ireland.
Northern Ireland has a thriving and fast growing creative technology economy, with GVA rising by 70% 2009-2013, compared to 15% for the whole creative industries sector and 5% for all NI industries. There are over 1,300 creative technology businesses registered here, and 44,000 people – 5% of our total workforce – is employed in the creative economy.
The creative industries have been identified in the UK Draft Industrial Strategy as one of just six sectors which deserve targeted investment and government support, while the NI Draft Industrial Strategy identifies Digital and Creative Technologies as an area of the economy where Northern Ireland has world class capabilities.
We are currently preparing a report on the sector and if you work in this area we would like to hear from you. Please follow the link to take part in the short survey – your input will help us understand where difficulties might lie in areas like skills, online connectivity, sectoral support or access to finance. We will be holding workshops in Belfast and Derry to draw out some of the ideas, so if you would like to participate you can let us know through the survey.
If you know anyone who would be interested in taking the survey, please feel free to share the link with them.
