Matrix was delighted to support the recent UK launch of World Space Week, with “Space and Climate Change,” as this year’s theme. The event brought together leaders from government, industry, and academia to discuss the role of space technologies in driving global climate solutions.
The launch was organised by the NI Space Cluster, National Centre for Earth Observation and Space4Climate and held at Stormont, showcasing a range of cutting-edge projects in N Ireland and the UK, at the forefront of Earth observation, monitoring the impacts of climate change.
The recently appointed Chief Scientific Adviser for Northern Ireland, Professor Helen McCarthy, officially launched the event, underscoring Northern Ireland’s commitment to tackling climate challenges. Robert Hill (Matrix Chair), highlighted the pivotal role space data plays in observing and monitoring our changing climate, while recognising the collaborations between government, academia and industry as key to realising a more sustainable future for all.
The event supported opportunities for businesses, funders, and policymakers to network and engage with space-based climate initiatives, further aligning with Matrix’s mission of fostering innovation through a partnerships approach.
