Matrix NI is pleased to announce two new appointments to the Northern Ireland Science and Industry Panel: Marina Donohoe, Chief Executive Officer of QUBIS, and Damian Duffy, Principal and Chief Executive of Belfast Metropolitan College.
Marina Donohoe brings extensive experience in research, innovation and commercialisation. As CEO of QUBIS, she leads the creation and growth of spin‑out companies from Queen’s University research. Her career includes senior leadership at Enterprise Ireland, where she worked across the innovation ecosystem to maximise the impact of public investment, as well as 18 years’ international experience in the US and Europe.
Damian Duffy, appointed permanently as Principal and Chief Executive of Belfast Met in 2025, has over 30 years’ public‑sector experience across the UK, Ireland and Europe. A graduate in European Business with postgraduate qualifications in Economic Development, Technology and Public Management, he has led major reform programmes for the European Commission, UK Foreign Office and World Bank. At Belfast Met, he has overseen curriculum, innovation and digital services, guiding the College to national recognition including the Queen’s Anniversary Prize in 2020. He also plays key regional roles as Chair of the Belfast Region City Deal Employability & Skills Board, Co‑Chair of the Belfast Economy Board and Board Member of Innovation City Belfast.
