Two complementary reports which will reveal the potential for Northern Ireland to develop a future economy powered by clean hydrogen energy will be launched at an event organised by Invest Northern Ireland at the Stormont Hotel on Wednesday, 19th October.
The reports, from The Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre (AMIC) and Matrix – The Northern Ireland Science Industry Panel, examine the changes needed to provide the policy, oversight, governance and investment to transform the Northern Ireland economy from being heavily reliant on fossil fuels to attaining energy independence through locally produced, clean renewable energy.
The Matrix report “Northern Ireland’s Future Hydrogen Capability and Demand”, produced by Frontier Economics, involved engagement with stakeholder from over 50 organisations across the public and private sectors, taking on board the views of policy makers, industry experts and academics from throughout Northern Ireland, the wider UK and Ireland.
Our report also assesses how Northern Ireland can reap the economic rewards of a transformation to a hydrogen economy, both in terms of energy security and in exporting technology, but also noting that substantial buy-in is required from government, industry, the education sector and investors.
