CSIT Labs, the world’s only incubator programme for cyber security start-ups which provides engineering resource, is recruiting for its second cohort. The incubator is based at the Centre for Secure Information Technologies (CSIT), the UK’s National Innovation and Knowledge Centre for cyber security located in Belfast.
Teams will undertake a 9 month managed incubator programme which, uniquely, provides up to 3 man-months of funded engineering development resource, to take ideas and promising research in the field of cyber security through to investment and market ready stage. The engineering effort alone represents a £30k value to companies at a time when access to cyber security research and development resources for new ventures is particularly challenging and makes this incubator unique globally.
Which cyber security technology areas are appropriate?
Our pool of industrially experienced engineers includes expertise spanning crypto hardware and software, biometrics, cloud security, authentication, deep learning, data science, data analytics, machine learning, AI, SDN, and SCADA. We can help your startup get technology to a more demonstrable state to enabling you to determine product/market fit, secure customers or investment.
Does CSIT take IP or equity?
No. The three man-months of engineering development resource is given to each team in the cohort for free. No equity or ownership of any foreground IP developed by CSIT’s engineers is taken or retained.
Do companies have to relocate to Belfast?
No. Participants will only be required to attend (in person) a minimum of two engineering meetings, three workshops and the final CSIT Labs Demo day in Belfast during the program time frame.
What else does CSIT Labs provide?
The CSIT Labs incubator programme encompasses its successful innovation process and expands it to enable teams from wider UK academia, government organisations and start-ups to benefit from its experience, ecosystem and world leading engineering capability. 5 teams graduated from CSIT Labs Cohort 1 including B-Secur, CyberLytic, Liopa, Sirona Technologies and Cognition Video. Of those, 3 have already secured significant new investments to scale-up their companies and drive new international business development.
