SUMMARY:Skills4Scientists - Poster Symposium
DESCRIPTION:A poster symposia and recruitment event.\n\n\nDescription\nThis event is the final event of the virtual Skills 4 Scientists series run by the Artificial Intelligence for Scientific Discovery Network+ (AI3SD) and the Physical Sciences Data-Science Service (PSDS). This event is a virtual 2 day poster symposia on the 1st and 2nd of September (between AI3SD\, PSDS & RSC-CICAG) where attendees will be invited to present their research to a range of experts from industry and academia. A number of companies have also been invited to present on the opportunities that they have to offer graduates and PhD students. \nWho is this event for?\nThis series of virtual events is primarily aimed at late stage undergraduate or early stage postgraduate students who are studying a physical sciences subject. However\, it is open to any attendees who wish to join if the subject matter is of interest to you! Please note though that many of the company talks and posters will be based around chemistry / physical sciences subject matter. \n\n\n\nAgenda\n\nThis event will run approximately from 10:00-17:00 on both days. A draft agenda will be published shortly.\n\nSubmit a Poster\n\nIf you are an undergraduate or postgraduate student or ECR working on the intersection of AI and Chemistry we would like to offer you the opportunity to present your research at this event via a poster and lightning talk. \nIf you wish to submit a poster please fill in our Poster form (https://forms.office.com/r/ZB1ttJn1cM)by midnight on the 18th August. We will let you know if your application is successful within a few working days\, and the final deadline for the full poster to be sent to Samantha Kanza (s.kanza@soton.ac.uk) is the 25th August.\n\nGive a Talk\n\nIf you are a company working in related areas to AI3SD and wish to give a talk about the opportunities your company has to offer graduates and PhD students as part of this symposium please contact Dr Samantha Kanza (s.kanza@soton.ac.uk).\n\nSponsorship\n\n£200 – logos on all event materials (rolling slides\, webpages\, flyers\, YouTube splashscreens). If you wish to sponsor this event please contact Dr Samantha Kanza (s.kanza@soton.ac.uk).\n\nThis event has been generously sponsored by Optibrium. \n\n\n\nThe Skills 4 Scientists series\nThis series is a joint venture organised between the Artificial Intelligence for Scientific Discovery Network+ (AI3SD) and the Physical Sciences Data-Science Service (PSDS)\, running alongside the AI3SD summer internship program. This series of events will run over the summer and aims to educate and improve scientists’ skills in a range of areas including research data management\, python\, version control\, ethics\, and career development. \nThis series is primarily aimed at final year undergraduates / early stage PhD students. Although of course anyone interested in any of the topics is welcome to join! \nThis series starts on the 7th July 2021\, and runs every other Wednesday and Thursday afternoon until the end of August. Each seminar session will commence at 14:00 and typically finish around 17:00. The final event of the series will be a 2 day poster symposia where attendees will be invited to present their research to a range of experts from industry and academia. \nTo find out about the other events in the series visit https://www.ai3sd.org/skills-4-scientists/ \nEvent Access Details\nThis event will be run virtually via the Zoom video conferencing platform. This can be accessed via either a computer or mobile device. \nIn most of the session we will ask that attendees keep their camera off and microphones muted to reduce bandwidth and background noise. If we invite attendees to join us on camera there is no obligation to switch on your camera. \nYou will be able to ask questions via the chat box in Zoom\, or in dedicated question sessions we will also invite people to ask questions using their microphone. \nThis event will utilise the automated captioning provided by Zoom\, and where permission is given we will post recordings of the event on our YouTube channels to allow you to watch them again later. \nAbout AI3SD\nWe are the AI3SD Network+ (Artificial Intelligence and Augmented Intelligence for Automated Investigations for Scientific Discovery). The Network+ is funded by EPSRC and hosted by the University of Southampton and aims to bring together researchers looking to show how cutting edge artificial and augmented intelligence technologies can be used to push the boundaries of scientific discovery. \nAbout PSDS\nThe Physical Sciences Data-science Service (PSDS) is a National Research Facility funded by EPSRC and run by the University of Southampton and STFC. The service provides free access to high quality data resources for the UK academic community. PSDS also aims to raise awareness\, engagement\, and education about data science within the physical sciences. \nAbout CICAG\nThe Chemical Information and Computer Applications Group (CICAG) is one of the Royal Society of Chemistry’s many member-led Interest Groups. Our aims are to keep users of chemical information and computer applications aware of activities\, services\, and developments in a rapidly changing area\, by organising a programme of formal and informal meetings to describe new developments\, to review particular topics and to evaluate and discuss current systems\, services and techniques. \nAI3SD Network Contact Details\nEmail – info@ai3sd.org \nTwitter – @AISciNet \nLinkedIn – https://www.linkedin.com/in/ai3sd \nLinkedIn Interest Group – AI3 Science Network Interest Group \nTo become part of the AI3SD Network+\, join our mailing list by sending an email to: listserv@jiscmail.ac.uk \nSubject: Subscribe \nMessage: SUBSCRIBE AI3SD Firstname Lastname \nOr go to https://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/AI3SD \nPSDS Contact Details\nWebsite – https://www.psds.ac.uk \nEmail – support@psds.ac.uk / psds@soton.ac.uk \nTwitter – @PSDS_UK \nCICAG Contact Details\nWebsite – http://www.rsccicag.org/ \nTwitter – @RSC_CICAG
