The Northern Ireland Science Park is expanding in a £6.5m investment part-funded by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment.

This could mean that Belfast Titanic Quarter development will be able to accommodate another 500 technology jobs. Around 2,600 people currently work at the science parks in Belfast and Londonderry.

The latest development will involve the construction of a third building on the site. The building will be known as the Concourse and is due to open in August 2016. It will bring flexible office space for technology companies. When complete, the 210,000 sq ft three-building complex will represent an investment of more than £20m.

Last year’s knowledge economy index report described Northern Ireland as one of the two fastest-growing ‘knowledge economy’ regions in the UK, growing by 33% in the last five years.
