From 21st April, Google will update its search algorithms so that “mobile friendliness” affects the prominence of your website’ s position in the search results.

Other criteria will include the size of text and how well content fits on a mobile screen. Google says mobile friendliness is only one of many factors used to rank results, but in a recent blog post the company said it would have “a significant impact” on search results.

Google does offer a few tools to help you make your site mobile compliant:

  • If you want to test a few pages, you can use the Mobile-Friendly Test.
  • If you have a site, you can use your Webmaster Tools account to get a full list of mobile usability issues across your site using the Mobile Usability Report.
