The MATRIX Women in STEM workshop brought together 70 participants from academia, industry and schools to discuss how best to support women of all ages working and studying in STEM sectors.

The event, which was held in Titanic Belfast, used the “Engage” process, real-time e-participation facilitated by Professor Jonathan Wallace, Dr Michaela Black and Brian Cleland from Ulster University. This was the first time MATRIX has used Engage and we found it to be of great value, allowing instant circulation of the proceedings and creating an instant record of day while encouraging  better  engagement of the participants in real time during the workshop.

We will use the content of the Engage report to inform our recommendations in the final Women in STEM report which will be published early in the New Year. Our thanks again to everyone who participated in the workshop, particularly our speakers – Eileen Harkin Jones, Bryan Keating and Louise Kerr.
