Horizon 2020 is an EU Research and Innovation programme with nearly €80 billion of funding available over 7 years (2014 to 2020). Up to June 2016, €47.2 million has been secured for NI projects so far under the EU’s H2020 programme.

The public research and innovation expenditure publication provides data on the geographic destribution of public research and innovation expenditure carried out by Innovate UK, the Research Councils and Higher Education Funding Councils. NI has lowest research council research expenditure of any of the UK nations.
